We are excited to announce that from March 17 to 21, MW COE will be hosting the second edition of the Mountain Risk Management Workshop Winter. This event will bring together experts, innovators, and industry leaders to explore cutting-edge solutions in risk management, UAV technology, and mountain operations.

Workshop Focus: UAVs in Mountainous Terrain

The primary focus of this year’s workshop will be the Mountain Cell and the application of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) in high-altitude and challenging environments. As UAV technology continues to evolve, its potential in mountain operations—ranging from transport logistics to avalanche prevention—has become increasingly significant.

To ensure a comprehensive and high-quality learning experience, we have once again partnered with leading companies in the field. These industry specialists will share their expertise and provide hands-on demonstrations of the latest UAV applications.

• LARA Application – Presented by Georg KRONTHALER, this advanced application enhances risk assessment and decision-making in mountain operations.
• Transportation of Equipment in Mountainous Terrain – in collaboration with Drone Passion, we will explore the role of UAVs in delivering essential supplies and equipment to remote or inaccessible locations.
• Avalanche Control with UAVs – The company Höhenarbeit will demonstrate how UAVs can be used to trigger controlled avalanches, improving safety in mountainous regions.
• XR Command “Supporting the Military Decision-Making Process in Mountainous Terrain”.

• Burial Search with UAVs – Developed by IVAQ, this technology enhances search and rescue operations by using UAVs to locate individuals buried under snow.
