“Pilot” Workshop: UAV Planning and Operations in Mountainous Terrain

“Pilot” Workshop: UAV Planning and Operations in Mountainous Terrain

Preparations for the first workshop on the use of UAVs in mountainous terrain are now in full swing. Experts from various fields are coming together to explore how unmanned aerial vehicles can be effectively deployed in the complex and often unforgiving environment in mountainous terrain. The workshop will not only cover technical aspects such as flight stability, reconnaissance capabilities, and logistical support, but will also look closely at operational integration within existing mountain troop structures.

Particular attention is being paid to insights gained from current global conflicts. These real-world scenarios offer valuable lessons on both the strategic advantages and vulnerabilities of UAVs in combat. As such, the workshop aims to present up-to-date findings and practical recommendations that reflect the evolving nature of UAV warfare.

UAV defense will also be an important topic. With the proliferation of UAVs, understanding how to detect, disrupt, and neutralize hostile systems is now essential for any modern military unit. The workshop will provide an overview of current counter-UAV technologies and tactics, and explore how these can be adapted to mountainous regions, where terrain and altitude can pose additional challenges.

Finally, the focus will be on integration: how can UAVs be meaningfully embedded into the operations of a mountain brigade to enhance situational awareness, increase operational reach, and support decision-making in real time? Through practical demonstrations, discussions, and scenario-based planning, participants will work to define the role of UAVs in shaping the future of mountain warfare.
