METEOROLOGICAL SUPPORT TO MOUNTAIN WARFARE OPERATIONS CONFERENCE
Between 1st and 2nd March 22, the NATO MW COE is organizing the Meteorological Support to Mountain Warfare Operations Conference in Sestriere, Italy.
The aim and objective of the conference is to link experts from NATO and partner countries who can highlight meteorological support from the operational, historical and, in particular, the mountain warfare perspective.
Climate and the weather have a far greater influence on operations in the mountains than in the lowlands, and the conference will serve as a platform for sharing and exchanging information on the meteorological aspects of mountain warfare. We believe that it will be an ideal opportunity for all participants to gain new experience and provide conclusions which could serve as guidance.
Assessing the environmental factors is essential for military decisions and for planning during the military decision-making process. Weather forecasts of the meteorological services have to be used as a basis for assessment.
