NATO MW COE DIRECTOR, COLONEL BORUT FLAJŠMAN ATTENDED 2022 ALLIANCE WARFARE DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE (AWDC)

The Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT), General Philippe Lavigne, hosted the event at SACT Headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia, 6-8 December 2022. The AWDC serves as Allied Command Transformation’s annual meeting for Flag Officers/General Officers, civilian equivalent decision-makers from NATO nations, and the Directors of the Alliance-accredited Centres of Excellence, which are responsible for warfare development activities. The theme of the 2022 AWDC was “Better Today, Stronger Tomorrow.” The plenary conference session focused on showcasing and explaining linkages between the NATO Defence Planning Process, warfighting development agenda and capability development. Syndicate sessions provided information on long-term trends and implications resulting from the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine as well as exchange views on persistent interoperability challenges. Cognitive Superiority in a connection with Multi-Domain Operations was highlighted as a future tangible advantage over adversaries.

Being in Norfolk, the NATO MW COE Director, Colonel Borut Flajšman (SVN-A) used the opportunity to meet with Brigadier General Moschous Voudouris (GRC-A), the Centre’s FOGO (Flag Officer or General Officer), the National Liaison Representative from CZE, Colonel Martin Bojkovsky as well as with HQ SACT staff officers, in charge of NATO Mountain Warfare Concept and Mountain Warfare courses development.
