Cold Regions Military Collaborative Training Event, Alaska, USA
The NATO MW COE Deputy Director and Training and Education Branch Head attended the 2018 Cold Regions and Military Collaborative Training Event in Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska from 20 to 23 February 2018. This event focused on recovery operations in extreme cold weather at high elevations. It was a unique opportunity to showcase a local and ongoing recovery mission of a US Air Force C-124 aircraft that crashed near Gannet Mountain in 1952. The remains of the aircraft are now being recovered on the Colony Glacier in the vicinity of Anchorage, Alaska.
The event brought together experts from Canada, USA, Italy, Germany, Nepal, Sweden, Norway, Japan, Finland and NATO MW COE in order to share similar tactics, techniques and procedures and lessons learned, as well as to strengthen the relationship between all participating nations and organizations.[envira-gallery id=”1419″]
