Commander of the German 23rd Mountain Infantry Brigade and the Commander of the Mountain Warfare and Winter School visiting SLOVENIA

 

The Commander of the German 23rd Mountain Infantry Brigade, COL Michael BENDER, and the Mountain Warfare and Winter School Commander, LTC Eike GUDAT, visited the NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence (MW COE) and the 132nd Mountain Regiment in Slovenia from 24 to 25 January. After the welcome by the MW COE Director, COL Borut FLAJŠMAN, the Chief of Staff/Deputy Director and the branch heads introduced the MW COE. Afterwards, both commanders visited the military facility on the Pokljuka Plateau. The next day, they were welcomed by the Commander of the 132nd Mountain Regiment, LTC Tomaž ŽBOGAR, at the barracks in Bohinjska Bela. It was agreed that the intention for the future is to foster close cooperation between the German and Slovenian mountain troops and the NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence.
