MTI EXPERT TALKS HOSTED BY THE NATO MWCOE

From April 16th to 19th, 2024, the annual MTI (Mountain Training Initative https://www.mti.bmlv.gv.at/ ) – Expert Talks took place in BLED (46° 22′ 4″ N , 14° 6′ 45″ O), upon invitation from the NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence (MWCOE). During these talks, the collaboration among European mountain troops in the face of future challenges was extensively discussed.

Participants deliberated on the lessons learned from recent mountain exercises and identified key aspects for effectively addressing future scenarios. Particularly emphasized was the need for continuous modernization of troops’ capabilities and equipment to meet evolving threats.

Another focal point was deepening cooperation among individual nations. Concrete measures were discussed to enhance information exchange, joint training, and operational coordination. This heightened cooperation will play a crucial role in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of mountain troops in multinational operations.

The event also provided ample opportunity for intense exchange among various specialists from participating countries. This informal dialogue significantly contributed to identifying best practices, addressing challenges, and strengthening collaboration at the operational level.
