NATO MW COE Lessons Learned Workshop

NATO MW COE Lessons Learned Workshop

The newly established Lessons Learned Branch organized the first MW COE Lessons Learned Workshop in Bled, Slovenia, 22-25 November 2021. We gathered 26 participants from 15 countries (FRA, DEU, POR, LTU, CZE, USA, POL, ALB, ROM, HUN, ITA, MNE, AUT, UKR and SVN). Besides participants from mountain-related units/HQ, LL personnel from six COEs (JCBRN, CASPOA, C-IED, MILMED, SFA, MW) also took part.

Part of the NATO MW COE’s vision is to serve as a hub and custodian for the MW Lessons Learned Process. In order to achieve this goal, the aim of the WS was to build a MW Lessons Learned Community of Interest (COI) in the domain of the LL process. With the support of the NATO Joint Analysis Lessons Learned Centre (JALLC) Advisory and Training Team from Lisbon, we familiarized the COI with the NATO LL Capability & Process, LL documentation, the role of the LL Staff Officer, and the NATO LL Portal.

Besides the educational aspect of the LL process, our intent in the WS was to share and discuss experiences and challenges related to the LL process with different COEs, as well as with personnel who are dealing with the LL process in mountain-related units/HQ at the national level.
