On 1JUN2022, the NATO MW COE Director, COL Borut Flajšman, together with COL Ruggero Cucchini (DDIR/COS) and Senior Enlisted Adviser MSGT Marko Pogorevc, visited the Polish Land Force Academy (AWL).
In the morning COL Cucchini gave a presentation about the Centre to a group of international cadets studying at the AWL. The comprehensive lecture finished with questions from the cadets, who were particularly focused on lessons learned and the use of newly developed technologies in the area of modern mountain warfare.
After the academic part of the visit, the NATO MW COE team, escorted by LTC Andrzej Demkowicz (POL-A), visited the Academy HQ, where the AWL Deputy Commander, COL Jacek Narloch, together with LTC Rafal Niedziela, provided an extensive presentation of the Academy, followed by a discussion on future cooperation. The signing of a letter of cooperation at the end of the visit provided a solid base for this, as well as strong commitment from both organizations.
A two-hour drive to the Polish Karkonosze mountain range and a visit to the Polish Armed Forces training facilities in Szklarska Poreba completed a long but nevertheless successful day.
