NATO MW COE Working Visit to the Austrian Mountain Warfare Center (Gebirgskampfzentrum)

Between 29 and 30AUG2022, the NATO MW COE Director, COL Borut Flajšman, together with COL Ruggero Cucchini (DDIR/COS) and Senior Enlisted Adviser MSGT Marko Pogorevc, visited the Austrian Mountain Warfare Center in Saalfelden.

After a warm welcome, the Gebirgskampfzentrum Commander, Colonel Jörg Rodewald provided an extensive presentation of his organization, followed by a discussion on a possible future cooperation. The afternoon visit of the specialistic military mountain equipment that is used in courses and exercises, showed us that centre’s standards in the area of safety and security are on a high level.

Before leaving Saalfelden, the leaders mutually agreed that further enhanced cooperation between both entities, especially in the area of mountain warfare lessons learned, mountain warfare standardization and sharing of experts, will bring common benefit.
