Signing of Cooperation Arrangement between NATO MW COE and SVN SPU

At the end of April 2021, the Director of the NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence (MW COE), COL Borut Flajšman, and the Commander of the Slovenian Special Police Unit, Damjan Žagar, acting on behalf of dr. Anton Olaj, Director General of the Police, signed a letter of cooperation, serving as a basis for a long-term cooperation in the field of their primary interest.

The Letter of Cooperation outlines ways to enhance reputation within both the police and the military mountaineering community as well as to foster in-depth cooperation in the field of mountaineering techniques and mountain warfare capability development.

The intention is to cooperate in the development of mountaineering techniques and mountain warfare capabilities through researching, joint training and education, evaluating and testing of mountain and survival equipment for both police and military usage. Furthermore, the lessons-learned process conducted by the MW COE is also of interest to both institutions.
