Swiss Armed Forces Delegation at the NATO MW COE

The NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence (MW COE) hosted a visit by the Commander of the Swiss Military Mountaineering Service Centre, Colonel (GS) Ivo Burgener, accompanied by Warrant Officer Class 1 Roger Wuersch. The visit took place between 6 and 7 September 2016.

The main purpose of the visit was to present the NATO MW COEs activities as well as to discuss the possibility to develop cooperation at international level. The NATO MW COE Director, Colonel Boštjan Blaznik with his staff briefed the guests on Centre’s mission and vision, highlighting the importance to become a “hub” and recognizable in the area of the mountain warfare expertise also with the support of “mountainous” nations.

The guest had also the opportunity to visit the Slovenian company Elan located in the same village as the NATO MW COE is. Elan is a leading producer and supplier of sports equipment, and is present in this market for 60 years. It is particularly known for its skis and snowboards.[envira-gallery id=”2122″]
