THE SPECIFIC ENVIRONMENT PANEL
The Specific Environment Panel (SEP) meeting was conducted in Winchester, UK, from 15 April to 19 April 2024. The meeting was organized by the Land Warfare Centre. The SEP brings together subject matter experts from different environments including mountain, jungle, forest, urban, desert and cold weather.
The Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence is responsible for leading the Mountain Panel. LTC Dennis Jahn, Head of the Doctrine and Standardization Branch, presented the results of the previous workshops and the Programme of Work for 2024 and 2025. He was also able to give the Chair of the SEP-meeting the good news that the Allied Tactical Publication (ATP) – 3.2.1.3 “Conduct of land tactical operations in mountainous environment” has been ratified by 21 countries and is now promulgated. For 2024, LTC Dennis Jahn introduced the next major projects of the MW COE, the Drone Workshop in September and the Mountain Warfare Congress in October, and invited participants to attend.
