Visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of France

On 16 July 2020, the French Ambassador to the Republic of Slovenia, Her Excellency, Mrs. Florence Ferrari, accompanied by Defence Attaché LTC Valerie Trameau-Chabert, paid a visit to the NATO MW COE.

The visit was hosted by the NATO MW COE Director, who gave a short presentation on the COE’s structure, its past development and way ahead. In this context, the Director stated that the NATO MW COE is growing, as within the recent years it has been joined by Romania and Poland as new Sponsoring Nations, and that Montenegro is in the process of joining the COE as well.

It was emphasized that France is a leading European mountain country with a strong mountaineering traditions and as such it is one of the key players in Mountain Warfare. In this context, the Director expressed his gratitude to France for its past cooperation with the Centre and contributing its know-how in in a variety of events that were organized by the NATO MW COE. In addition, he mentioned that the COE would like to set up the grounds for further cooperation and to intensify the engagement of France within the NATO MW COE. With this aim in mind, the COE will explore possible new ways and opportunities to share such subject matter expertise in a variety of projects and activities.
