Successful Preparations for the Mountain Cell SOP Training in Lizum/Walchen

During the past week, the NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence (MW COE), together with the EU Pooling & Sharing Mountain Training Initiative (MTI), participated in the Final Coordination Conference (FCC) at the Austrian Armed Forces training area Lizum/Walchen, Austria.

In addition to representatives from the MW COE and MTI, personnel from four participating nations and several civilian partners took part in the event. The objective of the week was to conduct the final coordination and practical preparations for the upcoming Mountain Cell SOP Training.

Throughout the FCC, training objectives were aligned, procedures refined, and the planned scenarios and support requirements reviewed and further developed. Particular emphasis was placed on multinational cooperation, interoperability, and the integration of expertise provided by our civilian partners to ensure a realistic and practice-oriented training approach.

The constructive atmosphere and the strong commitment of all participants contributed significantly to the success of the event. The week also provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences, strengthen professional networks, and jointly develop innovative approaches for modern mountain warfare.

The outcomes of the FCC confirmed that preparations for the Mountain Cell SOP Training are progressing according to plan and have established a solid foundation for the successful execution of the training.

The NATO MW COE would like to express its sincere appreciation to the Austrian Armed Forces as host nation, the participating nations, the MTI representatives, and our civilian partners for their outstanding support, professionalism, and dedication throughout the week.

Together, through cooperation, innovation, and the exchange of expertise, we continue to shape the future of modern mountain warfare.
